On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 9:45 A.M., in a regular meeting at the Sierra County Commission Chambers, 1712 N. Date Street, Truth or Consequences, NM 87901, the Board of County Commissioners of Sierra County will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of discussing the adoption of an Ordinance codifying the New Mexico Enabling Act. The purpose of the Ordinance is to ordain that the County of Sierra will not recognize nor enforce any state law, mandate or order that violates or is contrary to, the provisions of the Enabling Act for New Mexico. The Ordinance further ordains that any law, mandate or order issued by the Government of the State of New Mexico or agent thereof that is contrary to the Constitution of the United States is void and not enforceable within the boundaries of this County. The Board of Commissioners will consider the Ordinance Codifying the New Mexico Enabling Act for adoption at the regular Commission meeting to follow the public hearing at 10:00 a.m. at the Sierra County Commissioner Chambers.
